Bautista is 3rd in wOBA and 5th in WAR since 2010, yet people talk about him like he is not a legitimate superstar. What more does the guy have to do?

The word superstar is thrown around wayyy too much. Jose has been on fire and looks like his old self... but the superstar label should be reserved for those who do absolutely everything well.

Justin Verlander is a superstar. Bryce Harper is a superstar.

Using that criteria, Barry Bonds was not a superstar during his epic years in the 2000's.

So Miguel Cabrera, Ryan Braun, Andrew McCutchen, etc. are not superstars? I don't like Bautista much but there's really no denying that he's one of the top players in all of baseball and very worthy of the title.

I disagree. Miguel cabrera is maybe the worst defensive 3b in the majors and hes the reigning AL MVP. Guys who can hit are superstars and Bautista is hitting as good as anyone in the league right now save maybe Miggy or Chris Davis. Its a hitters league.

Bautista is an elite hitter, no doubt.

Is he the kind of guy you 100% build your franchise around? Debatable. Bat has really come around this year. He's smoking the ball lately.
