Yeah like what Spanky said, I'm a cheap lol.

I'll do the buy in for fun. I don't like gambling on baseball or leagues that I take seriously, but it'll add some intrigue since there is also a money incentive to win as well.

I put in the message with my payment that if we make it a mandatory buy-in I'd be in. Not a big fan of the optional.

Doesn't change anything. It's still going to be highest seed that participates takes all. If you come in 1st, but didn't buy in, you get $0.

    z3r0s has a good point.
Some people might have the all-or-nothing strategy, whereby they trade off all their good players for prospects for a couple years, then go all-out the next year, while only opting in, during their big go-for-it years.

Optional works well in a redraft league, but in a dynasty league, you want more incentive to field a competitive team every year.

This ranking process has been a real eye-opener. A lot of players I generally think are meh are actually good contributors.

I'll probably re-apply my process to DDL to see where things stand in that league too.

    Normal way:

    - Get projections from Fangraphs
    - Fill in some "blanks" with your own projections or 2014 stats or whatever
    - Do z-scores
    - Adjust scores for position
    - Adjust scores for age, if you want

    Lazy way:

    - Get projections from Fangraphs
    - Do z scores
    - Use that as a rough guide for ranking players, adjust for age, position, and personal projections in your head

    JFaS way:

    - Get projections from Fangraphs
    - Get projections from own database based on pitch level data
    - Collate projections
    - Do z-scores
    - Do y-scores
    - Overlay y-scores in z-scores in an x-matrix, adjusting for infusion and variance at each p-level
    - *Plug yourself in for the night
    ........
    - *Reboot
    - *Windows startup noise
    - Adjust for position
    - Adjust for replacement level
    - Adjust for age
    - Adjust for injury risk based on position
    - Repeat entire process on a Mac with your left hand
    - Regress everything to the mean
    - Regress again
    - Infinite regress
    - Life has no meaning
    - Kill all humans?

Projections compared to positional replacement with age and durability adjustments. I'll probably have to add another element somehow, since I'm not going to take Marcus Semien or Brett Lawrie in the second round lol

Anyone know the Fantrax calculation for RC? I know it's somewhere in this mammoth thread, just not sure where.

Abom and JFaS say it's the standard one:

I'll pay someone $5 for their Steamer600 z score spreadsheet. Any takers?

Since we're not doing a live draft with a clock, I don't know if I'll bother making a spreadsheet this time. I think I'll just make a general strategical layout about when and how to address specific needs, identify some sleepers and deep sleepers and just make sure not do anything too rash/extreme when my turn comes up.
