Rule #1 in dynasty fantasy. Never trade Mike Trout.

Trout stays on the field. The production you get from just one lineup spot (CF at that, valuable) is pretty close to priceless.

E: being the former owner of the Padres, I just assumed you were asking me.
Yes, but mostly everyone who keeps slagging the deal. Most people seem to be concerned with the return rather than with the trade at all, but really I'm just curious what people would have done assuming they were given the job of trading Trout.

I think the only way it makes sense to trade Trout is for another mid-aged superstar ++.

Nonsense. There's always a price that makes it worthwhile. You can argue that he didn't get enough for Trout, but there's always some price that makes sense (Harper+Seager+Kershaw) for instance.

Yeah I was going to say getting multiple top ten guys for Trout makes sense, as you mitigate the risk of having all the eggs in one basket.

The big thing is that the package needs to start with a tier one player. You can justify trading Trout for maybe Machado++ or Harper++ or something like that.

Or even something like Donaldson + an true Ace. That might be a justifiable win-now move.

The package Nafro got last year was just a bunch of role 50-60 guys.

There aren't many teams in the league with those kinds of assets. You'd need a top-5 player, and other blue chip pieces.

Just reflecting, my lineup going into this season would have been:

    C who knows
    1B Greg Bird
    2B Steve Pearce
    3B Jake Lamb
    SS Corey Seager
    OF Jesse Winker
    OF someone via trade
UTIL Victor Martinez/Aledmys Diaz (was pretty quick picking him up in other leagues)

That would have been pretty good.

How much do you regret leaving the forum's most active and most difficult league?

It's hilarious how badly you want back in this league, but still won't admit it.

    You'd need a CF.

But in all seriousness, would you marry Steve Pearce? Would you fuck him?

Is this like the new version of Kill, Marry, play in LF?

Too many injuries so I'd probably have to care for him when we grow old. In a game of FMK, he's strictly a F.

I'd marry Kris Bryant. And kill Francisco Lindor.

Not that I care, but I actually didn't realize I had a reputation for being stingy in trade talks.

You and I have completed many deals, Boxy, fwiw.
