28. Greg Allen - Ugh. I was all prepared to take Forrest Whitley here, and then had a change of heart to take an OF that was close to MLB ready instead. I still like him, but passing on Whitley was a mistake.
69. Jesus Luzardo - Love this pick here. Was a likely first round talent in MLB if not for TJ. Developing nicely, but still a ways away. Could move up prospect lists tremendously this season.
103. Michell Miliano - This was a reach. He's, like, twelve years away.
107. Fernando Tatis Jr. - Steal of the draft, friends.

Wow, Tatis Jr. at 107 is huge. Nice.

So how do you people feel about your 2017 draft. My draft last year:

21. Juan Soto - Still love with this pick. He has the potential to be an elite prospect.
39. Trevor Clifton - bust
45. Will Benson - No real opinion yet. He showed his tools, but had significant contact issues.
56. Albert Abreu - Traded mid draft to P2F for what turned out to be pick 27 this year. Happy with this pick.
102. Ronald Guzman - Traded to Spanky for Bryan Shaw.
109. Max Povse - looks to have like 5th starter upside. Possible bust,
127. Luis Alexander Basabe - probably bust
129. A.J. Minter - Love this pick. He was a huge part of my playoff run, and I think he'll have a great 2018.
131. Josh Ockimey - still OK with it. He's up to AA and still looking like a guy.
132. Dane Dunning - broke out in 2017 and then traded in my Tanaka deal

I'm pretty happy with the draft overall. I give myself a B.

I would give you a B+. Soto was one of the best picks of the first round.

1-12 RHP Fernando Romero - Traded him to get Matt Chapman mid season and then got him back (along with Luzardo) for Tanner Roark at the deadline. There were better options available in hindsight but I like Romero's upside to contribute across the board in this league and I'm content with the pick.

1-15 C Zack Collins - Not the year I was hoping for, but I'd say he maintained his stock this season. Again there were better options available though.

2-42 CF Jahmai Jones - I remember debating between Jones and Bichette here and kicked myself for going this direction for the better part of the season, but Jones could still turn out to be a great pick here IMO.

3-64 RHP Vladimir Gutierrez - Not a bad pick but used to make an awful trade for a scrub AAAA pitcher who I've already dropped

3-72 CF Bryan Reynolds - Was happy to get him at this spot as one of the top college bats in the class, and he had a very good season. Could be a top 100 guy by mid season which makes this a solid pick

3-86 CF JB Woodman - Insert vomit gif

5-121 LHP Jared Miller - Likely going to be rostering this guy as a reliever this year and feel he could have the upside to be a darn good one. Great K numbers and could push for a high leverage role for the D'Backs at some point this season.

6-159 LHP Keegan Akin - Had an OK year but I've dropped him to make room for something more interesting

6- 162 SS Allen Cordoba - Quickly traded for a 4th round pick #smallvictories

Grade -> C- (at best)

I like Keller a lot, and Rutherford still has a high ceiling. Burdi could one day be a late-inning relief ace, and Ragans was a great late-round pick.

It’s not unredeemable. Gutierrez could end up a pretty good pick, but unfortunately you won’t reap the benefits.

11. Keller was an absolute steal at #11 and was the main piece of me getting Yu Darvish. One of the best pitching prospects in baseball now.
19. Rutherford....ehhh. We'll see. took a step back. Traded him for Greg Holland.
37. Zack Burdi. Arm blew up, traded him for 2nd and 3rd round picks. I think he can still be a great high end RP
103. Muller. Young but I like the value still at 104.
123. Ragens. Anytime you draft a top 100 prospect at 123 ...you did well.
