Report: Nobody fucks with the Jesus.
"We don't have to plan for a rebuild. But all 30 teams have to stay agile, and have to understand that we're dealing with human beings, and these assets to organizations are human and change and evolve. I think what we've tried to do is become more flexible and agile, and to sustain championships is to build from within."

He could hit water, if he fell off a boat....and can also walk on it.

    Sure!

    7. Jesus Sanchez, of

Born: Oct. 7, 1997. B-T: L-R. Ht.: 6-2. Wt.: 190. Signed: Dominican Republic, 2014. Signed by: Danny Santana.

Background: As an amateur, Sanchez originally showcased as a frail switch-hitter. Later in the process he showed improved strength and began hitting exclusively lefthanded. He improved his stock quickly and continued to do so after the Rays signed him for $400,000 in 2014. He hit .329/.351/.549 in 56 games in 2016 at two Rookie levels.

Scouting Report: Sanchez has an array of tools, but his offensive potential is his most exciting asset. He has a compact swing with balance and rhythm and a well-timed load. He has loose wrists and covers the plate exceptionally well. Sanchez shows rare ability to use the whole field. He has grown into power because he is physically mature, and he projects for plus power. The Rays are impressed with Sanchez’s strike-zone awareness and his ability to execute an approach. He is an above-average runner underway, though his first step can be a bit awkward and he’ll need to refine his center-field routes and baserunning technique. He has above-average arm strength that he is still learning how to use.

The Future: Sanchez‘s loud tools could be refined enough for him to handle an assignment to low Class A Bowling Green at age 19 in 2017, though he has no cold-weather playing experience yet.

Definitely someone I considered, one of the more likely to contribute this year, and only Rule 5 that had any decent long term contribution projections.

I assumed as much. TJS in March took him out of first round consideration for the 2016 Rule 4 draft.

I'm actually surprised Abom wasn't all over him by this point.

I don't have any picks this draft, nor did I want any (unless they were maybe top 10).

    9. Vladimir Gutierrez, rhp |
    image: http://www.baseballamerica.com/wp-co...o_icon_red.png
    bba_video_icon_red

    Born: Sept. 18, 1995. B-T: R-R. Ht.: 6-1. Wt.: 172. Signed: Cuba, 2016. Signed by: Tony Arias/Chris Buckley.

Background: Gutierrez left the Cuban national team at the Caribbean Series in February 2015 after two effective seasons in the Cuban major league. Poor workouts in 2015 kept him from getting the offers he expected, but he eventually signed with the Reds in late August 2016 for $4.75 million after he showed an improved fastball. The Reds spent nearly $12 million on Gutierrez and Cuban shortstop Alfredo Rodriguez in 2016.

Scouting Report: At the time of his defection, Gutierrez possessed one of the best combinations of stuff and projection in the rapidly thinning Cuban pitching market. His fastball sat at 88-93 mph in Cuba and was 92-96 in a three-inning workout for multiple teams in April 2016. His curveball, the best in Cuba before he came to the U.S., is back after what Gutierrez called an ill-conceived idea to shelve his curveball for a slider. His high-70s curve is a power pitch with tight spin and downer action that could end up being a plus offering. He also still throws a slider as a less-effective but usable breaking ball. Gutierrez has developed an 83-84 mph change with deception and fade that could be average one day.

The Future: The Reds previously signed and developed athletic Cuban pitchers Aroldis Chapman and Raisel Iglesias, though Gutierrez is further from the big leagues than they were. He has a ceiling of mid-rotation starter and will join high Class A Daytona in 2017.

Reynolds is with San Fran, and I think BA have just started their NL West top 10 lists today.

Edit: The Giants list will be released on Jan. 18th.
