I noticed that to. There's actually a video on, Sportsnet I think, of JD teaching Alford his swing, so I think we're correct to notice that similarity.

That's a sexy start to full season baseball. Wow. Boner.

SRF didn't make it out of the second inning again today after giving up a 3-run HR.

Bo Bichette on the other hand is back at it again: 1-2 with another double.

Its absolutely perplexing that they would reach for a college hitter with obvious contact issues. At least when you go that route on a HS bat you are hoping that three years down the road the kid makes improvements. Just a stupid, stupid pick.

Stat scouting - I have to agree. A college guy striking out that much in the lower minors without major power? piss off.

Stat scouting his college stats would show you that he struckout at a 17% rate in his draft year with big time power (.254 ISO). You'd be looking for your area scouts to identify that he has a massive hole in his swing or that contact issues would pop in pro ball.

I don't love Woodman, but I'm not jumping off the ledge at his slow start. He had a 215 wRC+ in Lansing in double the amount of PAs he has this year at the end of last season.

Hmm. That's a little alarming with SRF, but, mistakes happen. Did they report on his stuff?

Woodman's contact issues were known well before the draft (With Keith Law famously grading his hit tool at 20 or something ridiculous like that). Since then he's posted K-rates of ~33% last year and now 11 strikeouts in 20 at bats to start this season.

The likelihood of a 22 year old hitter in A-ball rectifying those strikeout rates is unprecedented. That shit only flies if the guy is Adam Dunn in the BB and HR department; and Woodman ain't that. You can basically write him off already as a prospect.

You're assuming I look at college stats King. That's a poor assumption

Woodman also showed brutal strikeout rates in the Cape Cod league.

I know his contact issues were known pre-draft but we were talking about stat scouting (in which case, you could have identified there was a contact issue by his CapeCod stats). I agree with you that his contact issues will likely prevent him from ever becoming anything more than a prospect that could reach the upper levels of the minors.

    From Rotoworld - NSFW

Blue Jays 3B prospect Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. went 2-for-6 with a homer on Wednesday for Low-A Lansing.

It's the second homer of the year for the son of future HOF Vladimir Guerrero. Simply put, Guerrero is too advanced with the bat to be at the lowest full-season level right now. He's crushing Midwest League pitching, and he's showing something his dad never did: plate discipline. You won't see him in the MLB for a couple of years, but his upside is higher than any corner infielder in baseball. You should already have him on your deep dynasty league roster.
