I'm with you on the illegals though. If we assume the US will allow a fixed number of new Americans each year (under a responsible population growth plan), then each illegal that comes in, means one less spot for a legitimate applicant.
Once again, I'm basing this all on some CBC clip, or youtube clip or something (can't even remember!), but as I understand it, their stay was started under Bush and extended under Clinton, the other Bush, and Obama. I don't 'think' they just stayed.

And for note, I am honestly in favour of strong boarder control and very well regulated immigration. Not trying to argue for amnesty because I want an open boarder. Just seems like a situation made crappy because of policy enacted (and extended) without a plan

Welcome to Republican World, where indentured servitude is perfectly reasonable.

Honestly, its probably been long enough that it doesn't make sense to send them back. All the hard work of integrating them into US society is done and I'm sure most of them are probably working and paying taxes like any American by this point. The correct response may be; this policy was flawed, lets not do it like that again, you guys are all (mostly) allowed to stay. Seems a little dumb to send them back after 20+ years.
I agree with all of this. However, at the same time, if I'm one of the refugees I'm not going to assume that a program with the word "temporary" in the title is gonna be around forever. Also, could these people not have applied for permanent residence/citizenship this whole time?

Walmart raising their minimum wage from $9 to $11. Also giving $1k bonuses to tenured employees- credits the tax bill savings

As you stated before, anyone can apply for permanent residency. However, there are several different categories by which to do this, and very specific criteria. Depending on a number of things, it can take years to be approved. It's also very costly, so my guess is that as long as their status continued to be renewed, a lot of them just continued on as they were. So, telling them they have a year essentially means most of them probably don't have time to sort it out. As for citizenship, that's a whole other thing. You need to have permanent residency for 5 years before you can even apply for citizenship.

As if they couldn't have afforded to do that before.

So what's the Democratic party line on this? All these pay increases are good right? They specifically said they wouldn't happen though.

No question Haiti is one of the poorest, if not the poorest, countries in the world. But that's not what he said.

Vicente Fox response "Your mouth is the foulest shithole in the world."

I for one am shocked and mortified that Donald Trump would use crude language.

Media is running to try and bury Trump for this but my guess is this helps him more than anything else.
