Assange is hiding from Sweden, not from the USA.

2 hours well spent, if you didn't catch the Frontline documentary on PBS over the past couple of days:

I hope my politics class does something like that.

It's amazing that young people landed exactly where I would have expected them to based on my limited exposure to them on social media: liberal authoritarianism. I'm so happy I have nothing to do with universities anymore.

No kidding, is the idea of personal liberty totally dead?

Arlene Dickinson on O'Leary. I never watched Dragon's Den so I don't have any real handle on Dickinson but it doesn't sound like she liked him much.

"(...) there is no simple explanation for anything important any of us do, and that the human tragedy, or the human irony, consists in the necessity of living with the consequences of actions performed under the pressure of compulsions so obscure we do not and cannot understand them. - Hugh MacLennan, The Watch that Ends the Night

Thanks, I enjoyed that. Nothing she said surprised me but it was nice to get some reassurance.

Wow, it sounds like she despises him. I remember watching DD and seeing the palpable disgust between them, but I usually thought it was mostly for show.

I don't think O'Leary has a big chance, but I do think he would be effective. I'm not sure if compassion should play much of a role in government. Obviously it should in life, but it's an emotion that I think could get you trouble and put you in a worst position then if you made a cold hard calculated choice.

Have you lived your entire life in a western country?

I have never watched this show either and always assumed all of the judges were complete hardasses. I really can't decide how much of what she says is accurate or inaccurate, but she seems like a very reasonable and straightforward woman. I don't really see a reason to distrust this interview if O'Leary continues to bluster his way onto our TVs every night.

Also, this is a complete bridge burning. She compared him to Donald Trump, gave a series of reasons of why people should not vote for him (including that he's a cut-and-runner), and even called Canadians too smart to vote for him.

She can also call him one more thing....Mr. Prime Minister!

It's funny though that she brings in this ego thing as if that's supposedly a negative trait. Someone running to be a leader of a country for an ego boost? That's news to me!
