Yes. But he has been a much much better hitter in his career. Also won't cost a prospect.

I could see maybe the Dodgers, Astros, Cardinals

Urias and Pederson would be a good starting point.

It's actually kind of an interesting thought. Turner could probably replace a good amount of the production (although certainly not all) if he was to be signed. You'd need at least 2 ultra high end MLB ready prospects or young players at positions of need, plus some others to even consider it I think. Urias + Pederson as the principles would certainly get my attention for example, if we're talking Dodgers. Not sure how many teams have the need, desire, and the prospect capital though.

Edited: Grant beat me to it lol.

If we were to trade Donaldson to the Dodgers what would the return be?

Pederson, Urias, De Leon, Bellinger+. Because you are not getting JD without Pederson and Urias in the deal.

    Or Pederson,Urias, Puig, De Leon

If they resign Turner this becomes pretty moot. And I think they would prefer to overpay Turner than give that much up for Donaldson.

I know, just thinking if we trade him how big of a haul we could get for him.

Imagine that. Trade JD + for Urias, Pederson, Puig...then sign Turner.

I don't think LA would give up Urias and Pederson for JD.

    Sorry.

These Dodgers hypotheticals are out to lunch.

Only AA can get a deal like that down

You probably don't get Pederson but they might give up Bellinger/ another pitching prospect. I feel like everyone always underestimates the return for star players.

I missed this, but I agree. Like, getting Edwin for only 3 years at 20 per is a no brainer to me. Eat half Smoak's salary and move him. There is no way someone wouldn't sign him to a 1/4M contract if he was a FA.

Smoak is 30 years old and has zero career WAR in over 800 games.

Very real chance he wouldn't get a major league offer and would be seriously weighing a contract offer from the KBO if he were a free agent.

Not that it matters in this context. If there's an upgrade they should just cut him loose and swallow the pill.

Mitch Moreland actually got a major league deal from someone so you never know.

    I think that's a stretch.

I would obviously start with Urias and De Leon as mandatory pieces and work from there would love to add one of Pederson or Bellinger but dodgers probably don't give up all there top prospects in a deal.

Like others have said if we got Pederson, urias and De Leon.....then signed Turner could be a crazy swing for us towards a youth movement.
