worth risking that he might have to play in Buffalo if no one takes him.

Outfield depth looking good, which is important since Bats is old and LF will likely be an issue once Pearce takes over 1b full time (we all know it will happen).

    Good move.

Coghlan is often marked as a utility IF? Is he a reasonable enough glove that he can cover for 3B on JD's DH days?

Just DFA Zeke today before his contract becomes guaranteed on Monday. We will still have to pay 1/6 or whatever it % it works out to if he gets cut.

He's quite a poor defender overall, he's dabbled a bit at 3B and 2B and the SSS defensive stats are not feeling it.

I don't think any team will claim Zeke at $1mm. Coghlan's a better player than him and he got a minor league deal a day before opening day. I don't think teams are going to line up for Zeke unless they have a huge hole in the OF and just need a body. Maybe the Tigers.

He's likely got a date clause where if he isn't on the big club, he's granted free agency.

Is this going to be a meme on this board, along with Morales forever? The good/lucky moves have far outweighed any of the bad.

Morales, Smoak, Bautista and Coghlan are on this roster now at a combined committed dollars of around $60 million. This time last year there was talk of $100M+ going to Bautista alone. 2/20 for each of Morales and Coghlan would have been reasonable expectations as well. They Jays have come out WAY ahead with this league trend of declining demand for aging vets who play non-premium positions.

DFA Goins or release Zeke both look like easy moves. I believe we would get savings on his arbitration contract if he's released before opening day.

He's been a positive outfielder the last two years and hit well (albeit SSS) when he moved out of the Oakland black hole. Good plate discipline, can hit a bit and a good OF - such a good 4OF.

ESPN, Yahoo Sports etc. will have to redo their predictions taking this premier move into account.

This guy is a former rookie of the year. Huge signing. He can play infield and outfield. He's our Ben Zobrist.

Assume we offered a similar deal to Pagan and that he's trying to get a better deal elsewhere. His self imposed 48 hour deadline is well over by now.

Shapiro is making the big moves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! These are the kind of moves that made sure fans stayed away from the Indians for 15 years.
