I personally think that everyone who uses the word at their workplace should be disciplined (I'd be fired at mine). If I'm told not to use a word I can generally do so. If you can't stop yourself from saying a slur you likely are a bad person.
Every gay person I know would claim they are not offended by someone using that word as a slur. While inappropriate and there should be some punishment, it does feel like people blow these things out of proportion.

    You really shouldn't assume this.

He actually used the word "disappointed" not offended. Even if you don't think a word is wrong, "EVERYONE" knows that it's a taboo word. Change your language for the sake of your career, or face consequences. It's that simple.

My opinion, grown gay men and women can and may be offended, which is fine. Some will be some won't.

But a MLB player is a role model to children, I'm happy my 9 year old didn't see that game and see what was said. To me that's the bigger problem then offending grown ups, passing on crap like that to children. Same goes for racism, there is no way that shit should still be an issue...someone passes that on to children.

I can't tell who is being serious and who is being sarcastic

Sucks he so flagrantly used a word he shouldn't have. I wish he hadn't done it.

Hopefully everyone gets over it and he continues to have a career year

If you only knew the shit you're 9 year old was saying to his friends when you aren't around....

I think that's kind of the whole point of this - the situational awareness to know when is a bad time to say certain things. His kid is smart enough to avoid that language around Dad, and hopefully would be smart enough to avoid it on national television.

With Alford and Smith Jr. now on the roster, how sweet would it be if a minority stole the bigot Kevin Pillar's job?

Hopefully Alford is gay. Or can become gay. That would make the takeover better.

I think Alford's wife might have something to say about that.

That's not true. I'm offended you said that. Grow up!
