He had a concussion and he was definitely gonna be up if he didn't. Shatkins is not gonna give up on talent

Hard to see a healthy Pompey as anything less than a 4th OF.

Possible but he's out of options next year and plays for a team that has an asset hoarding front office. They kept fucking Goins on the roster rather than risk losing him. Pompey has a shot.

Whether he ends up being any good is a different story.

I would've liked to have had Pompey up here all season over Carrera. I think given the opportunity to play everyday he could be a valuable contributor, not to mention we've lacked any real on base threat since Rajai.

Giving up on a 24 year old switch hitting outfielder who plays good defense and has premium speed would be absolutely criminal. At the very worst, Pompey is a 4th OF, which is still valuable. Also, he's gonna be cheap for the foreseeable future. You give guys like that every chance to succeed.

I've seen enough videos of his misplays in centre to not label him a good defender, though it's clear he has the range to cover a lot of ground.

That's what I have read. Potential to be a CFer is there but he needs to work on his reads.

Not sure. He was labelled a good defender early in his pro career, but the last year or so have been some bonehead plays. It could be holdover concussion effects. Concussion effects can linger for a very long time.

It was confidence, apparently he's worked it out. Who knows.
