4.5 wins as a pitcher, -0.2 as a position player (But maybe 1.7 wins batting as a pitcher if he goes to the NL)

Sanchez had expirence pitching in the bigs though. Ohtani is still a wild card. Japan league is still lower than the MLB.

He will be a very good to great pitcher, but the hitting experiment will end within two years. That's my guess.

Hope he goes to the Padres for purely selfish reasons as a Jays fan. Keep him as far away as possible from the AL, but also don't have him join a team like the Cubs or Dodgers where his talents will be used to build a dynasty and reduce the Jays' chances of winning a World Series in the near future. Let him rot on a bad team for all I care. Fuck the BTS logic of having him go to a decent team for a good baseball story. My loyalty is to the Jays first! Stick Stanton on the Giants and shift the power balance to the NL West as much as possible.

I wanna see him on the Angels. Mike Trout deserves some help.

I think Angels deserve to lose Mike Trout for countless stupid decisions.

The Angels front office is fine.

    Arte Moreno is not.

Mariners and Angels have each made trades with the Twins to acquire 1M more in international spending pool money

    Both heavily in on Ohtani

    MLBTR:

Rosenthal tweets that the Angels, like the Mariners, are adding $1MM in their deal with the Twins. That pushes their pool up to $2.315MM.

After trading away $1MM of their international bonus pool to the Mariners, the Twins are set to trade away another portion of their pool to the Angels in exchange for outfield prospect Jacob Pearson, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports (on Twitter). Minnesota has $2.245MM available to send to Anaheim in the deal. Pearson, Rosenthal notes, was the Angels’ third-round pick in the 2017 draft and received a $1MM signing bonus.

The Angels still trail the Rangers ($3.535MM) and Mariners ($2.5575MM) in overall international bonus money, but they’re nevertheless positioned to put forth one of the best financial offers to Shohei Ohtani. All four of the NL clubs reported to be among the finalists — the Cubs, Padres, Giants and Dodgers — are capped at a $300K offer as penalization for prior overages in international free agency.

    Same.

But I guess it's such a small amount overall that an extra 1M must matter to him from the teams that had so little to spend they felt the need to beef up.

Yeah but the Angels themselves deserve only failure. The best solution is Otani signs with maybe Seattle and then they trade for Mike Trout.

Why the fuck are the Twins of all teams trading away bonus money for shitty prospects?

"Rosenthal: The Ohtani sweepstakes has frustrated many teams in baseball, even before a winner is picked."

"Calling Shohei Ohtani’s rapid-fire schedule eyewash would be premature since no one knows what the Japanese star actually is thinking. But predictably, some people in baseball are suspicious of the recruitment process, fearing Ohtani, 23, already had made up his mind."

Damn, Rosenthal is going to get roasted on this forum for saying that.

I think Ohtani is doing the smart thing. He has 29 choices whereas most free agents have a handful. Talk to them all and then make a decision. Smart move.
