    Jose Bautista appreciation thread

Any if you living in Toronto, go watch Joey Bats last home stand. He might be having a horrible season, but the guy is a Blue Jay god!
Cheer his every at bat LOUDLY!

When he hit that bat flip home run, I was 10 beers in sitting intensely on the edge of my seat with a couple friends. I nearly hit my head on the ceiling I jumped so high, cleared the coffee table and nearly passed out from the rush of blood to my head! Unreal moment!

Give the guy a statue Rogers!

I think there's a pretty strong chance he may retire this off-season. I don't think his ego will allow him to sign a one-year deal as a part-time player, and currently he is a DH with a below league average bat, so I don't see much of a market developing.

What a great homerun in the playoffs!!!!!...but for the most part I'd pay for him not to play for the Jays again....really dislike him
See the ball and let it fly, Watch the ball soaring through the sky, Higher like a comet in the night air, Defying gravity is rare, Let the ball fly, Its homerun time!!!!!

I hope he retires. Nobody needs to see him hang on in the short side of a platoon.

What a run he had with us. Played a key part in making the franchise relevant again. He was one of the few reasons worth watching during the first couple of post-Halladay seasons and then was a key part in getting the team back to the postseason.

I'll miss watching him play but it's time to hang them up IMO. My guess is he tries to keep playing though. I don't really blame him but I'm not sure why kind of contract he could get at this point.

Imagine the haul we could have had 3 seasons ago when the time was right to move him

Bautista has had a big drop in bat speed this year. The part I'm not sure about is whether it's from his apparent change in approach to use the whole field more, a hand or arm injury, or just age. If it's the latter, then it's time to hang them up. If it's something correctable, someone could get a hell of a bargain this offseason. It's interesting to note that his defense seems to have improved quite a bit this year.

That was a huge HR etched in our relative short history, but a statue, c'mon! I agree that he should be cheered.

Nah, just a differing philosophy on asset mgmt. Prospect development and a focus on continuous asset renewal (moving aging assets for younger ones) is the way to win WS IMO. Kinda like the Rays have been running things (or were under Friedman).

And Spanky I know is still butthurt for giving me a 1st rounder for Bautista.

Fucking going to miss him a lot... what a unique player, hes the first and only jersey I have ever owned in any professional sport, I hope if he doesnt retire this year, he will ultimately agree to retiring as a Jay.

How many WS did the Rays win under Friedman?
