he is the rock that the jays should be building on. just extend him already and build the team around JD and Stoman.

Jays will need probably 2 additional pitchers at Least as good as, if not better than Stroman if they want to contend.

And that's not a knock on Stroman, just a fact of life in baseball these days. A 4 WAR ace just isn't good enough.

If Sanchez can be healthy, maybe he's one of them, but any thoughts of contention you just need that guy that's in the 6+ WAR area

They really need to extend JD, potential hall of famer and we're going to let him walk with a top 10 payroll? This isnt the same scenario as Bautista and Edwin.

Maybe not, but having Tulo and Martin already on the books really limits what you can do, plus you can pretty much guarantee JD will only get 1 chance at free agency and won't be letting it go by without shopping around.

just tuned in... sale is at 60+ pitches in 3 innings; only 4 hits by the jays 2 of which are JD bombs; so others are taking him deep into the count? is that about right?

Combination of a tight strike zone and bad slider command (plus JD going nuts).

Throw it right back in there Happ, he's not gonna want anything to do with it.

They can be creative with it. Backload/defer cash to when Martin and Tulos contract expire.

We're going to be paying Donaldson $25 million next year in arb anyways. It's just going to be that amount stretched over a longer term.
