It's imperative that the Jays get both Walker AND Kikuchi off the booze if they want to win this year.

Verlander would have been $40M/year which means Jays have the money for Heaney, Stripling and another piece. Move one of the C for CF.
maybe throw Kikuchi in with Jansen and Cimber for Metz and Nootbaar. then sign one of Heaney or Stripling and a lefty bat to play lf-dh. Balances the lineup and rotation.

And if you sign a pillow deal and succeed in the AL East, fuck, nobody can question your ability.
A Good track record is what we call Berrios 2022 now......

1 bad year. We’ll see how it turns out but literally everyone was happy with the deal at the time.

You aren’t getting Nootbaar for that package. Cardinals wouldn’t benefit at all selling low on arguably their best young player. O’Neil for Jansen plus a prospect or Jansen for Burleson swap is far more realistic.

Why would Toronto have to add anything to Jansen, to get O'Neill? They are pretty close in value.

Burleson is not worth Jansen. He's interesting but seems like a platoon guy, and possibly not a very good defensive OF.

Why would the Cards want Kikuchi?

O’Neill is a year removed from almost a 6 WAR season. Even in a down year he wasn’t far from Jansens career year. Burleson is a top 100 prospect getting him for a player who arguably fits best as a back up catcher is a great get. I’m a blue jays fan but the delusional value that some of you put on Jansen drives me nuts. Nootbaar in essentially his rookie season was better than any year in Jansens career. Also the team control difference and age. No chance Jansen is netting him.

Tyler O’Neal was a flash in a pan. He strikes out a ton, has no plate discipline, and abuses TRT. He will never come within half of his career season in WAR again. We have moved beyond Randal Grichuk 2.0.

I'm not saying Jansen alone should necessarily get Nootbaar but otherwise fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk kkkkkkkk

you are not allowed to slander Danny Jansen like this

Jansen played 72 games and was worth twice the WAR of O'Neill last year, and they are a wash by projections

Alec Burleson is fucking fat 1B prospect

We all know how I feel about Danny Jansen but even I wouldn't want Alec Burleson for him. I think Jansen plus something for Nootbar works. I think Jansen for Oneill is also pretty fair.

Projections seem to like Heaney. Fangraphs says 2 years $10 million per.

K rate sure jumped last year too.

That’s really their projection for him? Yikes. Every team in baseball would pay him that, even the Pirates
