Well he did just put up a 2 WAR season (2.6 bWAR) with a FIP of 4, and an ERA under that. If he repeats he earns every bit. Gibson got 10M, and Greinke > Gibson

I think he out performs that. He’s better IRL than fantasy. He seems to have learned how to pitch while throwing 89.

What did the Orioles get out of promoting Rutschman in May? I cannot find a single non-tangible benefit and a couple of major negative outcomes:
1- Lose 1 year of Rutschman control
2- Go down a few slots in the draft

If non-competitive teams believe their prospects have a good shot at being Rookie of the Year, then they should add them to opening day roster or wait until July at the earliest to promote them. Promoting good prospects between April and June when the team is not competitive is just counter-productive.

    Goodwill

    His development

But yeah it was more like... He was on the opening day roster if not hurt so they just put him on the team when healthy

Yeah and I’m not looking, but I don’t think he was setting the minors on fire. So it was a rehab more than anything

I don't think that matters. You do not get the high draft pick if he is not on opening day roster yet you still lose the year of control if he finishes top 2 in RotY. Noncompetitive teams are better off waiting until July or later to promote good prospects if said prospects start the year in the minors. It is in the team's interest to minimize their players' chances of winning RotY in this scenario.

Hopefully for the sake of baseball and it’s fans, last years sss continues to be the case, and teams get away from that philosophy

It's not so much a "philosophy" as it is a "calculated business decision" (for the non-stupid teams anyway...)

Yet teams started to get away from it. Clearly. Could’ve been something discussed that’s not spelled out in the CBA. So why not root for that instead of getting joy from knowing how smart you are, and how stupid teams are.

Well, if they had told him he made the team, no coming back from that, right.
