Id compare him to Madrigal at the moment
See the ball and let it fly, Watch the ball soaring through the sky, Higher like a comet in the night air, Defying gravity is rare, Let the ball fly, Its homerun time!!!!!

Most likely, he gets a cup of MLB coffee.
C'mon man.. You can't compare the hit tool between the two.

Yeah. Hitting upper 90s with 4 pitches and getting shelled in High A. Weird to see.

That walk rate in the 7 BB/9 range certainly isn't helping. Hopefully his issues are mostly command related given the seemingly high quality stuff.

Oh God that's a name right out of the AA book of incompetent drafting 101.

Looked like such a good pick on draft day too.

So many failures over years of what look like promising drafts.

AAs failure was more on the development side I guess. Drafted decent but could just never develop those guys.

Although I suppose drafting and development are two sides of the same coin.

The drafting was all over the place too. It seemed like they were just throwing darts at a board, which looked "good" on the surface because they had a few years with a million high draft picks.

My "favourite" pick during that era: HS RHP Tyler Gonzalez. He was old as shit for his class, and the scouting report read: more of a thrower than a pitcher with a high-effort delivery. Struggles with command and high reliever risk. So basically just a kid who's only calling card was whipping the ball as hard as he could, which of course made his command atrocious. He was also old (19+ at time of draft) and came out of Texas which meant that his lack of development was even more concerning as he had way more "reps" than most of his peers. Unsurprisingly, he basically flamed out as soon as he turned pro. One of the worst picks ever - I think he pitched 25 innings total over two seasons, and that was it.

So many high draft picks busted. Or were never signed. McGuire, Harris, Smoral, Hoffman.

Some of the guys who were less heralded and got traded away panned out much better. Musgrove, Desclafani, Boyd are out there having great seasons.

I don't know much about Brandon Eisert. His numbers look pretty good. A lefty reliever throwing mid 90s. I looked him up, apparently the Canadians are playing in his home town so he lives at home and his parents come to all the games, which is kid of cool. 30 innings isn't a lot, but seems like a guy you might want to move up a level to see how he does at AA.

I am a little surprised they haven't had him change his approach. They said he's got some average raw power but almost never lifts the ball. I think with his inability to take pitches he needs the power to develop to find him an everyday multi position role. But I 100% believe he's in the Jays plans over the next three years where he has options. The perfect comp for him is Joey Wendle who swings at more pitches outside the zone (thus more weak contact). He needs to get line drives in the majors to survive.
